Getting started

What is RetakeHQ?

A CS2 demo analysis tool for teams. Upload a demo and you get a 2D replay with a live win probability, the strategies each side ran, and a coaching report on what worked. It compares your rounds against patterns learned from pro matches, so you can see what to change and how to counter an opponent.

What files can I upload?

CS2 demo files: .dem, or compressed .dem.gz and .dem.zst. You'll find your own matches in CS2's replay folder or on your FACEIT match page. Analysis usually takes one to two minutes per demo.

How do I get my team on it?

Open Account and choose Invite teammate. It copies a link that works once and expires after 7 days; send one to each teammate. When they sign in through it, they join your team and see its demos and notes.

Signing in and privacy

Why do I sign in with Steam? Is it safe?

You sign in on Steam's own website, so RetakeHQ never sees your password and never stores one. Steam only tells us your public SteamID, which anyone can already see on your profile. Your Steam Guard and two-factor settings stay in charge of your account.

The SteamID also lets RetakeHQ recognise you inside your demos. Always check the address bar shows steamcommunity.com before signing in, as with any Steam login.

Who can see my demos and notes?

Only your team. Other teams can't see your uploads, and asking for one returns "not found", so nobody can even tell it exists. Notes are private to your team as well, including notes on the pro matches everyone can watch.

Anything that compares matches, like Scout, stacked rounds, round search and "rounds like this one", only looks at the pro matches and your own team's uploads. Your rounds never show up in another team's results, and theirs never show up in yours.

Do you train on my matches?

No. RetakeHQ's win chances and "what pro teams usually do" baselines are learned only from the professional matches we add ourselves. Your uploads are never used to build or improve them, not even in aggregate, and we never sell or publish them.

What do you store about me?

Your SteamID, and your Steam name and avatar when available. We also store your team, the demos your team uploads and their analysis, your notes, and your sign-ins, each labelled with a browser and device such as "Firefox on Windows" (not your IP address). You can see and sign out your devices on the Account page.

Can I get my data deleted?

Yes. Email hello@retakehq.com with your SteamID (it's on your Account page) to ask for a copy of your data or for your account to be deleted.

Plans

What's included for free?

The pro matches everyone can explore, one upload of your own every 24 hours, and the replay viewer with live win probability. Demos you upload on the free plan are kept for 7 days; each one shows when it will be deleted. See Pricing for what the paid plans add.

How long do you keep my demos?

On a paid plan, for as long as you're subscribed. On the free plan, 7 days after you upload them. Either way, the original demo file is deleted a few days after it's analysed; the replay and analysis stay. Your team's notes on a demo go when the demo does.

Are uploads really unlimited on paid plans?

Yes. The only cap is a fair-use limit of 50 uploads a day per team, far more than any team plays. It's there to stop automated bulk uploading, not real use.

Is there a desktop app?

Yes, for paid plans. It runs the same analysis on your own PC with no upload limit, and picks up new demos from your downloads automatically.

Can I pay yet?

Not yet. Paid plans open when billing launches, and everyone is on Free until then. Anything you upload now stays in your account.
